“Assumptions are the mother of all mistakes!”

Assuming that your contact page is doing what it should is a horrendous mistake and very false assumption to make.

You need to check your contact page regularly to make sure that it’s doing it what it should. Things may have changed and if someone can’t get in touch with you, they’ll be getting in touch with someone else instead, probably one of your competitors.

So what can change?

Time changes many things. You might have changed your telephone numbers, especially mobile numbers and not updated your contact page.

You have to make sure that all of your phone numbers are prefect and always right.

It’s no good having a phone number on your website that doesn;t get answered by you.

You might think that there is no way people forget to change something as vital as a phone number. You’d be surprised.

Check your email address

Making sure that your email address is correct is not just as simple as looking at it.

Make sure that when you click it, it works, by opening your email software and composing a new email.

Then make sure that the address is correct and that you are monitoring that email account for new emails.

Listing an email address on your contact page and then not checking to see if you’ve received any emails on that account is utterly pointless.

Your visitors will reasonably assume that if they’ve sent you an email, that you will have received it. If you do not reply to the email (by email or phone) they will assume that you are ignoring them and do not want your business.

Contact Forms

Making sure that your contact forms are working is vital. Just because it used to work does not mean that it is working now.

You may have changed website hosting companies, or your hosting company may have made some software updates and your form may now not be working as you expect.

Keeping an eye on your contact form again makes sure that you know the form is working and is sending contacts and messages through to you.

Again make sure that you actually receive the content of your contact form.

You need to make sure that your contact page is always up-to-date. It’s one of the most important parts of your website, so getting it absolutely right is vital to your online success.

Never assume it is correct – keep checking regularly.
